Play Rangers are good for your health!

Play Gloucestershire promote active play at our Play Ranger sessions. We know that children need to do at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day to be healthy. Going to our Play Rangers is a really fun way of being active whilst you enjoy yourself. Play activities like running, jumping, skipping, swinging, den building and tag make you feel good and improve your health. And it's all free!

Play Gloucestershire is in support of Change4Life and has joined the campaign. Our Play Rangers believe that in order to maintain a healthy weight we need to both eat better and move more. Many families are making changes that will help them live healthier and longer lives. Visit www.nhs.uk/changelife or call 0300 123 4567 for more information.

Tewkesbury Food & Drink Festival 2009

Kate Risdale and the rest of our Festivals Team proved at last month's Tewkesbury Food & Drink Festival 2009 that parents do sometimes enjoy watching their children play with their food! Rob Hainsworth took this photograph of some of the edible ‘models’ produced on a busy and successful day.

Play Rangers are currently helping to consult children in the St Paul's area of Cheltenham about what they want their Agg-Gardner playground in Pittville Park to become. It's part of Gloucestershire's Playbuilder Programme, in which the government is investing £235 million nationally, to create innovative and adventurous play spaces.

The second annual Play Gloucestershire residential holiday to Borfa, Port Eynon, Wales, enabled 20 children from our six Play Ranger teams to mix, make new friends and ‘Get Out & Play!’ on the beach. As in 2008, the group have volunteered for their respective Play Rangers and become the charity's latest Young Play Activists. (See Photo below)
